Abstract
Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by Novel Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Generally, COVID-19 patients will have difficulty breathing, so they need ventilator for breathing assistance. Ventilator has a very high cost, while this machine needed by COVID-19 patients. Therefore, Bag-Valve Mask (BVM) or ambu bag becomes an emergency choice to replace ventilator functions. This research aims to make ambu bag applicable to portable mechanical ventilator. So, ambu bag which was originally used manually can be used automatically like a ventilator machine. Portable mechanical ventilator that has been made in this research consist of design and prototype using Sugeno fuzzy logic method as a controller mechanical arm based on motor DC PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) in applying pressure to ambu bag. Types of mechanical arm pressure to ambu bag in this research are divided into several types, namely very low pressure (51 PWM), low pressure (102 PWM), middle pressure (153 PWM), high pressure (204 PWM), and very high pressure (255 PWM). In determining the type of mechanical arm pressure using several parameters such as minute volume, respiratory rate, and tidal volume. Portable mechanical ventilator that has been made in this research using principle of positive-pressure ventilator and pressure sensor MPX5500DP for air breathing sensor as feedback to the user.
