Abstract

The purpose of research to identify the what the factors make farmers continue to be palm oil farmers and farmers who choose to move rice farming, and to calculate the out whether the current income received by rice farmers is better then being an abandoned oil palm farmers. This research was carried out in Tanjung Merindu Village. Determination of the location research is done by purposive location sampling. The Study was conducted in February until completion. Research method used survey methods. The sampling method used was disproportionate stratified sampling. With data collection methods, namely primary data and secondary data. Data processing methods will be analyzed mathematically, then explained descriptively and using the SPSS application. Research result show that factors influence farmers decisions to stay on oil palm farming or move to rice farming is age, number of dependents, and land area. While education and land ownership don’t influence farmers decisions to stay on oil palm farming or move to rice farming, there is a difference in income received by farmers who choose to move rice farming.
