Abstract
This research entitled "The Strategy Evaluation of Employment Department in reducing the unemployment rate of Palembang". The chosen background of the title because the number of labor is not in accordance with the availability of jobs and the low competence of the unemployment. The purpose of research is to know the implementation of the strategy undertaken by the Manpower Department in reducing the unemployment rate of Palembang. The type of data used is primary data and secondary data, the research uses a model evaluation theory strategy by Richard P. Rumelt (1980) which consists of dimensions of consonance, consistency, feasibility, and advantage. The results showed that from the evaluation of the employment strategy in reducing the unemployment rate of the city of Palembang have not been fully successful, it can be seen from the strategy of expanding the job field is not optimal because of the spread information related to job exchanges, training, and education. Then the strategy to improve the facilities and infrastructure of activities have been appropriate because it is seen from the unemployment that not much complained about the facilities and infrastructure that exist, only still at least the training held so that the unemployment not able to improve competence to compete with workforce in the era of globalization. Based on the results of the research conducted, the Employment Department should provide counseling to the community, providing clear and accurate information related to the job vacancy, the manpoweroffice invites many companies to cooperation, besides having to open other types of training, and provide facilities and infrastructures that meet the needs of the unemployment.
