Abstract

Global warming is the occurrence of an increase in the average temperature in the atmosphere, ocean and earth's land mass that can cause the extreme climate change, making it more difficult to predict seasonal patterns. Global warming not only has an impact on environmental change but can also interfere with human health. Livestock sector contributes to global warming through the CO2 and methane (CH4) produced from metabolic processes in the body of livestock, namely the fermentation process in the digestion of livestock itself. In this research, pellet feed is made, this is because some studies show that complete feed in the form of pellets is more acceptable by livestock, it is easy and not dusty. The aim of this research is to study the gas production profile and the concentration of methane produced by in-vitro indigofera maggot (I-Got) pellets. This research was conducted in September to December 2019 at the Experimental Cage Laboratory and the Animal Nutrition and Feed Laboratory Laboratory of Animal Husbandry Study Program of the Faculty of Agriculture and Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. The observed variables include the rate of gas production, the concentration of methane gas, and the production of gas / dry matter. The data was analyzed using the T-Test statistical analysis method. The results of this study showed that the administration of I-Got pellets was able to reduce gas production and the concentration of methane gas even though it had not been significantly affected, and affect the production of gas / BK (Dry Material) even though it has not been significantly affected.
