Abstract

This article examined how self-presentation was presented by the role of instution is maintaining the value customery marriage in the Lesung Batu Muda village, Rawas Ulu sub-district, Musi Rawas Utara district, South Sumatera. This riset intend to determine tehe role of traditional values of traditional institutions in maintaining tehe traditional values of marriage in the Lesung Batu Muda Village, Rawas Ulu sub-district, Musi Rawas Utara district. The concept used is the concept of the role of Biddle & Thomas. This study uses descriptive qualitative metdods with data collection taken by observation in Lesung Batu Muda village, interviews with traditional, as well as documentation of the activities of traditional institusion in traditional marriages. The data source used was primary data obtained from the research infoermants, then supported by secondary data related to the research on the role of traditional institusion in the Lesung Batu Muda Village, Rawas Ulu sub-district, Musi Rawas Utara district. The result of the study found that the organizational structure of traditional institusion in Lesung Batu Muda village, Rawas Ulu sub-district, Musi Rawas Utara district is decrease. The decreasing due to the lack of intensification of the performance of the organizational structure of this. It can be seen in the concept of the role of Biddle & Thomas, which is about hope, this hope can be demonstrated for traditional institusions, so that they can immediately carry out their duties and roles in the community, while the norms are shown for the organizational structure of adat institusions or in the interpretations of customary marital values. So do the manifestation of the behavior of trafitional institutions has not been prominent in maintaining and maintaining marital customs in the village.
