Abstract
Machining conditions and coolant is the most important parameter that affects the results of surface roughness. To improve product quality machining results, we must also consider the cooling fluid that we use in the machining process. Coconut oil has long been known as raw material for new and renewable energy. But with the development of technology, coconut oil is also used as a mixture of the coolant. The aim of this study was to analyze the effect of the results of the machining process using a liquid cooling coconut oil and without coolant to the value of surface roughness (R_a). This study is limited to the effect of cutting speed, feeding speed, and depth of feeds. This process is done by using a CNC lathe TU-2A and in doing as much as 19 times of testing. From the test results showed that the machining process using coconut oil coolant proved to be better with lower surface roughness values of the machining process without using coolant.
