Abstract

RENDI ROBIANSYAH. The Transportation Time Length of Nile Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) with the Addition of Red Guava Fruit Leaves Extract (Psidium guajava var. pomifera) (Supervised by MOHAMAD AMIN and M. SYAIFUDIN). Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) is one of the most desirable freshwater commodities by various groups, both local and foreign communities. However, the production of tilapia fluctuate every year. Transportation of live tilapia that is commonly used by farmers is the wet system transportation. This study aims to determine the effect of red guava fruit leaves extract to increase the SR (Survival Rate) of nile tilapia during transportation. This research was conducted at the Laboratory of Experimental Pond and Aquaculture Laboratory, Aquaculture Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University and Indralaya Ogan Ilir region for transportation processes in August to September 2018. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of four treatments and three replications, i.e. the transportation time length of P0 (2 hours ), P1 (4 hours), P2 (6 hours) and P3 (8 hours)of nile tilapia with 0.25% addition of the guava leaf extract. The parameters observed were survival rate, blood glucose analysis and water quality (temperature, pH, DO, and TAN). Addition of P. guajava var. pomifera extract into the transport media during transportation can increase the percentage of fish survival during transportation. Tilapia survival during transportation is highest in P1 (4 hours). The lowest mean blood glucose level is at P3 (8 hours)
