Abstract
Velvet-leaf (Limnocharis jlava L.) is a native plant at riparian wetland which has been used as a non-cultivated vegetable crop. The purpose of this research was to evaluate growth and cumulative yield of the velvet-leaf plant as affected by the frequency of leaf and flower bud harvest. The study was conducted from September 2017 to November 2017. This study used a randomized complete block design with 5 treatments (P1 = 2 leaves harvested: 1 leaf not harvested, P2 = 1 leaf harvested, 1 leaf not harvested, P3 = 1 leaves harvested, 2 leaves not harvested, P 4 = 1 leaf plus flower buds, 1 leaf plus flower buds harvested: 2 leaves are not harvested, P5 = 1 leaf plus flower bud harvested: 2 leaves not harvested) and 4 replications. Each replication consists of 3 plants, so there were 60 plants in total. Results of this study indicated that the treatments of various harvest frequencies had a significant effect on the cumulative yield. The treatment of PS (1 leaf plus flower bud harvested : 2 leaves not harvested) with a mean wet weight average rate of 5, 13 grams given highest cumulative yield was achieved if young leaf and flower buds of the velvet-leaf plants.
