Abstract
Soil has important roles in a construction work. Soil is the building supporting foundation or the construction of the building itself. But not all types of soil can be used directly. One of those is clay. Before being used in the construction, it is necessary to stabilization the clay. The method used in this study was chemical soil stabilization by addition 3%, 6%, 9%, 12% and 15% of rice husk ash to the soil and the curing was carried out in 0 days, 7 days and 14 days. The physical and mechanical tests performed was: Specific Gravity Test, Atterberg limits test, Standard Compaction Test and Triaxial UU test. The Specific gravity test showed a decrease in the value of Specific gravity along with increasing rice husk ash. The plastic index of soil decreased along with the addition of rice husk ash. The standard compaction test showed an increase in the optimum water content in addition rice husk ash while a decrease in the maximum dry density. Triaxial UU test showed the addition of rice husk ash can increase the shear strength of the soil. The largest shear strength value was 1.044 kg / cm2 obtained at addition of 6% rice husk ash with 7 days curing period. While the smallest shear strength value is 0.698 kg / cm2 obtained at addition of 3% rice husk ash with 0 days curing period.
