Abstract

The aim of this research was to know the effect of organic matter application in tidal swamp land to the growth of edible canna plants (Canna edulis ker). The experiment was conducted at Suka Tani village, Tanjung Lago district, Banyuasinfrom October 2017 until January 2018. The design used was Randomized Block Design with 6 treatments and 3 replications, in each experimental unit there were 16 plants. The treatments were (Po) control without organic matter, (P1) cow manure JO ton ha-1, (P2) rice husk ash 15 tons ha-1, (P3) rice husk ash 20 ton ha-1, (P4) rice husk JO ton ha-1, and (P5) rice husk 15 ton ha- 1.The results showed that the application of (Pi) rice husk ash 15 tons ha-1 could increase the growth and development of the edible canna plants. The highest yield was in the shoot growth time variables, plant height, flowering time, number of tiller, fresh weight of stover, dry weight of stover, and tuber weight. The highest leaf number and leaf chlorophyll content were found in treatment (P 3) of rice husk ash 20 tons ha-1
