Abstract

This study aimed to determine the growth and yield of shallot of Pancasona variety with the treatment of water table and biochar. The study was conducted in the experimental station of Agriculture Faculty of Sriwijaya University in March 2019 to May 2019. The research used shallot bulbs of Pancasona variety. The study used factorial randomized couplete block design with 2 factors which consisting of 12 treatments, repeated 3 times. Each treatment unit consisted of 2 plants, so that there were 72 plants. The first factor was biochar (P) with 3 levels, Po = 100% soil (control), P1 = 51 g,'plant , P2 = 102 g,'plant. The secound factor was water table (T) with 4 levels, To = control, T 1 = water table was 10 cm from the ground, T 2 = water table was 15 cm from the ground, T 3 = water table was 20 cm from the ground. The parameters observed were height of plants, total of leaves, total of tillers, heavy weight ( crown + tuber), diameter of tuber, fresh weight of tuber, weight of tuber ( dry wind), and root length. The results showed that there was no interaction between biochar treatment and water table. In the biochar treatment, the best results were P2 treatment of 102 g/plant. The higher the biochar used, the higher the yield of shallots. Conversely, in the treatment of water table, the best results were in the treatment To (control), it indicated that the shallot of Pancasona variety were not resistant to water table treatment.
