Abstract

The study aims to determine the relationship between loneliness and life satisfaction of widows in Karang Endah. This study hypothesis that there is a relationship between loneliness and life satisfaction of Widows in Karang Endah. The research sample was 110 widows in Karang Endah. This study used probability sampling technique. Measuring instruments uses a scale of loneliness and life satisfactio by referring to the loneliness dimension of Russell (1996) and aspects of life satisfaction from Diener, et.al (1999). The research used Product Moment correlation analysis. The result of correlation analysis to saw the relationship between loneliness and life satisfaction showed that R= -0,442 P=0,000 (p<0,05). The results showed that there is a negative relationship between loneliness and life satisfaction. So, the proposed hypothesis is accepted.
