Abstract

This study aims to find the alternative sources of the mineral Fe in caisim (Brassica juncea L) plants by biofortification. This research was started from August to September 2020 at the Hydroponic House, Department of Agricultural Cultivation, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya, South Sumatra Province. This study consisted of 2 treatments, there are 0 ppm and 10 ppm. Each treatment was repeated 4 times, for a total of 8 experimental units. Each experimental unit consisted of 36 plants, so the total plants planted were 288 plants. Data obtained from observations and measurements will be analyzed using the T-Test and Descriptive Test. The results showed that the addition of 10 ppm Fe concentration of biofortication in caisim plants had an effect on the increasement of plant leaves number and could increase leaf greenness. Biofortification of 10 ppm given to caisim plants increased the nutritional content of iron, total sugar and crude fibes. The results of the hedonic test (organoleptik test) on the dark green colour, was verry fond with fresh textures of caisim plants that use Fe 10 ppm are preferred the community.
