Abstract

Introduction: Flies are insects belonging to the order diptera which are disease agents or mechanical vectors against bacteria, viruses, protozoa, and worm eggs. Flies have a high potential for the spread of disease agents mechanically and biologically because they are supported by their body morphology and the ability of flies to fly large distances. This study aims to determine the types of flies and STH egg contamination on the fly's external body at Jakabaring Central Market. Method: This research is a descriptive observational study with cross sectional design. The samples of this study were all flies caught using traps in the Jakabaring Central Market. The sample processing site is the Chemistry Medic and Biooptic Laboratory, Faculty of Medicine UNSRI. Results: There were 201 flies, consisting of 4 species, that is M. domestica 77 (38.3%), C. megacephala 29 (14.42%), Lucilia sp. 92 (45.77%), and Sarcophaga sp. 3 (1.49%). Of all the flies that were caught, 22 samples were made to check for STH contamination. A total of 22 samples were examined not found any positive samples of eggs STH. Conclusion: There is no STH egg contamination on the fly's external body at the Jakabaring Central Market
