Abstract

Background. Hypertension is a condition in which there is an increase in blood pressure above normal limits. Hypertension is one of the causes of aortic elongation which is a structural change in the aorta in the form of aortic lengthening. This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between hypertension and aortic elongation. Method. Cross sectionally, by determining age, sex, and blood pressure grades from secondary data in the form of patient medical records and identification of chest X-rays to determine the incidence of aortic elongation in 104 patients. Results. From the results of data analysis on 104 patients, a P-value of 0,000 was obtained where the P-value ≤ 0,05 indicates that there is a significant relationship between hypertension and aortic elongation with an Prevalence rate valu e of 9,792, means that there is an increase in the incidence of aortic elongation by 9,792 times in patients with hypertension compared with patients without hypertension. Conclusion. There is a significant relationship between hypertension and aortic elongation with an increase in the incidence of the aortic elongation by 9,792 times in hypertensive patients compared to patients without hypertension (PR = 9,792; p = 0,000).
