Abstract

Background : Proneness are desires that often arise. Boredo is a negative experience that usually arises in situations that are considered lacking in meaning, interest, and challenge, and is thought to motivate us to recover these condition by modifying existing behaviour or situations. This study aims to describe boredom proneness in students of the Faculty of Medicine Sriwijaya Univeristy 2017-2019. Method : This research is descriptive observational. The sample of this study was students of the Faculty of Medicine Sriwijaya University 2017-2019. Subjects (n = 678) filled out a Boredom Proneness Scale (BPS) questionnaire consisting of 28 statements with the choice of “True” or “False” for the answers. Then the scores were calculated and the data processed in SPSS. Results : In students of class 2017, the mean score of boredom proneness was 40.96 (SD = 19.06). In students of class 2018, the mean score of boredom proneness was 41.00 (SD = 17.67). In students of class 2019, the mean score of boredom proneness was 42.25 (SD = 17.28) Conclusion : The majority of students from the Faculty of Medicine Sriwijaya Univeristy 2017-2019 tend to be high in scores. If it is not handled properly, it can affect student academic achievement. Key words : Boredom Proneness, Boredom Proneness Scale (BPS), Medical Students
