Abstract

The engine valve is one of the components in the engine. The function of the valve on the engine is as a door for air to enter and exit the engine. Engine valve is divided into two jobs; First, the inlet valve functions to open the fuel line that will enter the combustion chamber. Second, exhaust valves are used to open the exhaust which will remove the remains of the combustion. The valve is often damaged in the form of broken or bent, especially in the exhaust valve. In this study, analyzed the stress that occurs in the exhaust valve. Finite element methode based software is used for analysis. Exhaust valve modeling was created with the help of Solidwork 2018 and simulated with Abaqus. The amount of load given is 889604 N/m2 from the combustion gas pressure and 0.02788 N from the spring force on the valve springs and the combustion chamber temperature is 519.5 0C. From the Abaqus simulation results, the maximum Von Misses stress value is 2.906 x 108 N/m2, the maximum displacement is 1.845 x 10-3 m, and a safety factor is 1.85 which means that the exhaust valve is safe to use
