Abstract

This thesis is entitled The Role of Muhammadiyah Organizations in The Field Of Religion And Education In The City Of Bengkulu In 1967-1998. The problems discussed in this thesis were how the process of the formation of Muhammadiyah organizations in the city of Bengkulu, how the role of Muhammadiyah organizations in the field of education in the city of Bengkulu in 1967-1998, how the role of Muhammadiyah organizations in the religious field in the city of Bengkulu in 1967-1998. This research was conducted with the intention to find out the process of the formation of the Muhammadiyah organization and how the role of the Muhammadiyah organization in the field of education and religion. The method used in this thesis uses historical methods namely Heuristics, Source Criticism, Interpretation and Historiography. This thesis used a multidisciplinary approach to science such as the sociology approach, religious approach. The research showed that the Muhammadiyah organization in the city of Bengkulu has existed since 1928. The role of the Muhammadiyah organization in the field of education was the establishment of a charity business namely Muhammadiyah schools ranging from elementary schools to tertiary institutions. While the role of the Muhammadiyah organization in the religious field was to align the faith, purify worship, and improve the morality of the people in carrying out their activities in the religious field, the organization of the Muhammadiyah was assisted by the Majelis Tarjih, Tablig Council.
