Abstract

The objectives of this study are (1) To determine the income of catfish farmers in Segayam Village, Gelumbang District, Muara Enim Regency. (2) Knowing the Decent Living Needs of catfish farmers in Segayam Village, Gelumbang District, Muara Enim Regency. (3) Knowing the Break Even Point (BEP) value in catfish business in Segayam Village, Gelumbang District, Muara Enim Regency. The research method used in this research is a survey method. The research was carried out directly by conducting interviews with respondents in Segayam Village by giving questionnaires in the form of questions that were used as a data collection tool. This method is used to obtain facts and data on sales and income production of catfish farmers in Segayam Village. The sampling method used in this study is the census method, where researchers collect data and information by observing all elements of the population. All samples in this study amounted to 17 people who are members of the catfish farmer group. Based on the results of the research carried out, the following conclusions were obtained. The income of catfish farmers in Segayam Village, Gelumbang District, Muara Enim Regency is an average of Rp.3,851,653 per-year. The income of catfish farmers in Segayam Village, Gelumbang District, Muara Enim Regency has not fulfilled the needs of a Decent Living Needs. Because the average income of catfish farmers per month is only Rp.320,971 per household per month, with the need for a decent living for a family of farmers of Rp.3,642,612 per household per month and the difference between income and decent living needs –Rp.321,641 (minus). The Break Even Value (IDR) is Rp.60,052,767 per-year and the Break Even Point (Kg) value of 4,004 Kg per year is obtained from the results of catfish farmers in Segayam Village, Gelumbang District, Muara Enim Regency. With a selling price that must be maintained at Rp.14,450 for a monthly production that must be maintained by farmers of 334 kg per month with an income of IDR is Rp.5,004,397. Suggestion The selling capacity in the catfish business in Segayam Village, Gelumbang District, Muara Enim Regency is quite high. This makes it possible to increase sales in accordance with existing capacity so that fixed costs can be utilized as well as possible and will have a positive effect on increasing profits. Taking into account changes in terms of prices, costs incurred and changes in production volume. To catfish farmers, they must continue to develop the ability of catfish farming techniques to be more professional or in increasing their skills. Keyword: income, welfare, break even point
