Abstract

Background: Osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee is a joint disease that subsides with the degradation of the articular cartilage, osteophyte ordering, subchondral sclerosis, inflammation of the synovial and physiological functions of the knee joint. The high incidence rate and large impact of OA ini indonesia requires a comprehessive control through promotion, early detection, treatment, and rehabilitation related to knee OA. These efforts are supported by the provision of precise and accurate information through a good surveillance system. Surveys of knowledge, attitudes, and actions that are used in investigating information related to what is thought, , and done regarding OA knee. Methods: This type of research is an unpaired analytic study with a cross-sectional study design. The data used are primary data (questionnaire) obtained from the results of filling out questionnaires by telephone and obtained a sample of 99 people. Results: The level of knowledge had a significant relationship to the incidence of knee OA with α = 0.00 (P <0.05) and PR = 13.91. The level of attitude has a significant relationship with the incidence of knee OA with α = 0.00 (P <0.05) and PR = 2.517. The level of action had a significant relationship with the incidence of knee OA with α = 0.00 (P <0.05) and PR = 6.750. Conclusion: The level of knowledge, level of attitude, and level of practice are significantly related to the incidence of knee OA at the Su'Adah Clinic in Palembang City.
