Abstract
This study aimed to determine the effect of composition of soil growing media with compost of oil palm fruit bunches and husk charcoal on the growth and yield of caisim plant. This research was conducted from September 2019 to November 2019. The design used was a randomized block design (RBD) with 11 treatments and 3 replications, there were 3 plants, each unit treatment, so there were 99 plants. The treatments were: T0 (100% soil), T1 (90% soil : 10% husk charcoal), T2 (80% soil : 20% husk charcoal), T3 (70% soil : 30% husk charcoal), T4 (60% soil : 40% husk charcoal), T5 (50% soil : 50% husk charcoal), T6 (90% soil : 10% compost of oil palm empty fruit bunches), T7 (80% soil : 20% compost of oil palm empty fruit bunches), T8 (70% soil : 30% compost of oil palm empty fruit bunches), T9 (60% land: 40% compost of empty oil palm fruit bunches), T10 (50% soil: 50% compost of oil palm empty fruit bunches). The results showed that the media with the composition of (50% soil: 50% compost of oil palm empty fruit bunches) was the best treatment. This treatment had lenght of midrib 39,78 cm, number of leaves 12,56, fresh weight of canopy 112,23 g, dry weight of canopy 34,27 g.
