Abstract

Azolla pinnata is an economical alternative as phytoremediator in reducing levels of metals in the soil. The purpose of this study was to test the ability of A. pinnata as a Pb metal phytoremediator and to obtain the best dose of A. pinnata biomass in reducing Pb metal concentrations in the soil from Karya Jaya landfill Palembang. This research was conducted from September 2018 to April 2019 at the Greenhouse of the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sriwijaya. Soil samples were obtained from the Karya Jaya landfill Palembang, which was found to have initial Pb metal content of 22,7 mg kg-1. Using Random Scales Complete with treatment A0 = 0 g A pinnata / tray (equivalent to 0 g m-2) A1 = 10 g A.pinnata / tray (equivalent to 106 g m-2), A2 = 20 g A. pinnata / tray (equivalent to 213 g m-2), A3 = 30 g A. pinnata / tray (equivalent to 320 g m-2), and repeated five times. The results of this study showed Pb metal uptake in the treatment of 30 g, 20 g, and 10 g A. pinnata 98 µg / dry biomass, 26 µg / dry biomass, and 16 µg / dry biomass respectively. In the fifth week of the study showed levels of soil Pb metal at 10 g, 20 g and 30 g of A. pinnata were 17,15 mg kg-1, 15,25 mg kg-1, 5,59 mg kg-1 respectively. The best treatment in decreasing Pb metal in soil was treatment of 30 g of A. pinnata.
