Abstract

This research entitled "The Role of PT Pupuk Sriwidjaja in the Community of Kalidoni District, Palembang City, 1959-1998. The issues raised were about the history of the establishment of PT Pupuk Sriwidjaja and the role of PT Pupuk Sriwidjaja in Kalidoni District in 1959-1998. The purpose of this study was to determine the history of PT Pupuk Sriwidjaja in Palembang City 1959-1998, to find out how the role of PT Pupuk Sriwidjaja in Kalidoni Village 1959-1998. In this study, the method used is a historical method with steps, namely heuristics, source criticism, historiography, social approach, and economic approach. Based on the results of the research, it is clear that PT Pupuk Sriwidjaja is the first and the oldest fertilizer factory in Indonesia, which was built in Palembang City in 1958 but started full operation in 1959. The increasing need for fertilizer every year has prompted the government to build its own fertilizer industry to meet needs. domestic fertilizers and reduce dependence on imported fertilizers. Besides that, PT. Pupuk Sriwidjaja also carries out its obligations, namely the responsibility and community development partnership program. This program certainly has an impact on the social and economic life of the community around the factory, especially in Kalidoni District.
