Abstract

The problems that arise when tilapia cultivation is one of them is water quality. To overcome this, Chlorophyta is used as a green water system that functions to maintain water quality. Green water system is an organism maintenance system by adding phytoplankton in the maintenance process to stabilize the quality of water and natural feed. The purpose of this study was to determine the limits of the optimal density of Chlorophyta in tilapia cultivation using the green water system method. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 3 replications. Addition of Chlorophyta in maintenance media on the first day with a concentration of 0 g.L-1 (P0), 0.55 g.L-1 (P1), 0.17 g.L-1 (P2), 0.06 g.L-1 (P3). This research was conducted at the Laboratory of Aquaculture, Aquaculture Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University in August 2018 to June 2019. The measured variables were water quality data (temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, ammonia and the amount of dissolved solids), density Chlorophyta, fish survival, absolute weight growth and fish feed efficiency. The results showed that the density of Chlorophyta which is good used for tilapia aquaculture is in treatment P1 with a density of 0.55 g.L-1 with a survival rate of 100%, feed efficiency 86.59% and absolute weight growth 11.26 g. Ammonia concentration of maintenance media at the end of the study was better namely in treatment P1 of 0.14 mg.L-1.
