The problem in this study is how the transportation of a barge boat on the Musi River in 1995-2005. The purpose of this study is to describes the transportation of a barge on the Musi River in 1995-2005. This research method uses historical methods, namely Heuristic, Source Criticism, Interpretation and Historiography. In this study, using the Geography, Economics and Sociology approach. The results of this study indicate that the transportation of this barge originating from Kalimantan is then imitated by residents in Palembang who are in the interior, in Sungsang. The function of this barge is to transport passengers and goods such as coconut, groceries household utensils, and cement. Many of these goods are transported from the Pasar 16 Pier which will then be taken to inland areas that do not have land roads, especially to the former transmigration area of Mekarti Jaya, Musi Banyuasin, Sujian route, Baung River, remote areas Sp (Residential Unit) and Sungsang. From an economic point of view, in 1995-2005 barge boat drivers benefited greatly, due to normal diesel fuel prices, while in 2000-2005 barge boat drivers benefited slightly due to abnormal diesel prices. The profit of the boat drivers depends on the normal price of the diesel boat.
