Abstract

This research aims to know the relationship between self esteem with a tendency narcissism on the students in Yogyakarta. The hypothesis in this research there was a relationship between self esteem with a tendency of social media narcissism instagram. The subject of this research are students who studied in the city of Yogyakarta, with a sample test of 50 students and the research sample as many as 150 students with incidental sampling technique. Data collection methods used in this research using a scale based on aspects of arcissism tendency by Emmons (1984), and self esteem refers to the aspect of the Coopersmith (1967). Research results are analys educing the product moment orrelation. The results of the hypothesis suggests there is apositiv erelationship between self esteem with the tendency of narcissism with correlation r = 0,462 with a p value of 0.000, which means the higher the tendency of narcissism is getting a high self esteem. Thus the hypothesis in this research acceptable.
