Abstract

This study was aimed to know the correlation between ingroup favoritism and self esteem at the Members of Islamic Defender’s Front (FPI) Sumatera Selatan. The hyphothesis was that there was a correlation between ingroup favoritism and self esteem at the Members of Islamic Defender’s Front (FPI) Sumatera Selatan. The population of this study was the Members of FPI Sumatera Selatan and the sample was 100 people. The researchers used non probability sampling and purposive sampling in choosing the sample. The data was collected by using ingroup favoritism and self esteem scales. The result of the study was analyzed by using correlation product moment. The result of the study showed that there was moderate correlation between ingroup favoritism and self esteem and the correlation was 0,478 and significant was 0,000 (p < 0,05). It showed that there was a significant correlation between ingroup favoritism and self esteem and the hypothesis wasaccepted.
