South Sumatran Province has high diversity of fishes, including stingrays (Dasyatidae; Myliobafiformes). The purposes of this research are to coEnfirm validity of the stingrays species that occur in Musi River and Banyuasin coast, compile a checklist following recent taxonomy update, and to prepare a basic map on local distribution regarding to its threatened levels ia the lUCN (Intemational Union for Conservation of Nature). Part of sampling surveys were started from Januari to May 2018, and a preliminary observation was conducted on early 2017. The data were collected mainly from field surveys and information from internet and social media of Facebook groups. The distribution of stingrays is highly dependent on aquatic habitat and species. Most of these stingrays are threatened species, which has been categorized as Endangered, Vulnerable, Near Threatened and Data Deficient.
