Abstract
The use of carbofuran as insecticide in the farmland supposed to impact on earthworm populations. Earthworms have a role in the ecosystems function such as the formation of organic matter. Vermicompost (feces) earthworm can improve soil fertility, form canals in the soil that improve soil aeration, and act as decomposers. Carbofuran (2,3-dihydro-2,2-dimethyl-7 benzofuranilmetil carbamate) insecticide from the class of carbamates, works as a contact poison and stomach poison that is systemic. Not only as a carbofuran insecticide is also used as a nematicide. The more intense in the use of carbofuran insecticide resulted in negative effects on the environment as well as the death of non target organisms such as earthworms Pheretima javanica Gates. P.javanica „s death is a side effect of the carbofuran insecticide. The side effects of carbofuran insecticide in the form of a reduction in the number of individuals, constraints on the metabolic activity, inhibition of behavior, consumption rate, growth, reproduction and hatching cocoon on P.javanica. The purpose of this study to determine the effect of the insecticide carbofuran concentration that given to feed the consumption rate, assimilation efficiency and body weight of P.javanica. The study was conducted in November 2016 to January 2017. The study was conducted in the form of laboratory experiments. The research design used completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and each of treatment made five repetitions with a concentration of 0,1%, 0,2%, 0,3%, 0,4% and 0,5 %. Based on the results of the study showed that carbofuran insecticide made from different concentrations were affecting of feed consumption rate, assimilation efficiency and growth rate of P.javanica. Award carbofuran 0,1% better against consumption rate, assimilation efficiency and P.javanica’s decreased in weight. The most effective concentration affects consumption rate, assimilation efficiency and decreased in weight rate is 0,5% concentration. Even a concentration of 0,5% also affect the behavior of P.javanica becomes slower and damage parts of the body klitellium worms. The conclusion from study results showed of different concentrations of carbofuran on P.javanica decrease between the control with the lowest concentration of 0,1% to the rate of consumption (13,51%), assimilation efficiency (4,9%) and decreased in weight (66%). The highest consumption rate at a concentration of 0,1% (0,032 g/g weight/day) and the lowest concentration of 0,5% (0,022 g/g weight/day). The highest assimilation efficiency at a concentration of 0,1% (89,91%) and the lowest concentration of 0,5% (41,66%). The highest body weight at a concentration of 0,1% (0,04 g/individual/day) and the highest concentration of 0,5% (0,17 g/individual/day).
