Abstract

Turkey is one of the new actors in the world defense industry, as one of the new actors in the world defense industry, Turkey actually cooperates in the manufacture of medium tanks with the Indonesian state which is not an actor at all in the world defense industry, this cooperation raises many questions, especially what are the interests from the cooperation with Indonesia. The focus of this research is to analyze the national interests brought by Turkey in the cooperation of making medium tanks with Indonesia. The research method uses qualitative research methods and uses secondary data as the main data and uses document study analysis techniques as a technique of data validity. To be able to analyze the national interest of Turkey the researcher uses the theory of national interest by Donald E. Nuechterlain which divides the national interest into 4 dimensions of interest, namely Defense, Economy, Regional Order, and Ideology. From the results of the analysis, the researcher concludes that economic interests are the most important interests of Turkey in the cooperation of making medium tanks with Indonesia, followed by regional order interests, ideological interests and defense interests, from this cooperation Indonesia is expected to accumulate interests and benefits for them. especially the maximum utilization of technology transfer from Turkey.
