Abstract

This research aims to identify the correlation between perceived authoritative parenting and sexism on Engineering Faculty students of Sriwijaya University. The hypothesis predicts the correlation between perceived authoritative parenting and sexism on Engineering Faculty students of Sriwijaya University. The population of the study is male students of Engineering Faculty students in Universitas Sriwijaya. There are 224 samples for research and 60 others for tryout, sampled with purposive sampling. Sexism is measured with sexism scale that refers to sexism component by Glick and Fiske (1996) and perceived authoritative parenting were measured with authoritative parenting component by Baumrind (Sultana & Ghose, 2013). Datas were analyzed with Spearman Rank. The correlation analysis yields a result of p of 0,852 that shows no correlation between sexism and perceived authoritative parenting. Thus, the hypothesis is rejected.
