Abstract

PT. Ulima Nitra is one of coal mining contractor company that located in South Sumatera. The mining method used is open-pit mining with a conventional system using a combination of a backhoe excavator and a dump truck. In mining it will form a large basin so the water will be concentrated in the basin and hamper the mining activities. This problem can hinder the mining activities, thus resulting in not achieve the production target. This research is intended to know the flow of water entering the front mining and the discharge of water that comes out through an open drain. From the discharge of water entering the front, it is expected that the drainage plan, sump dimensions and the number of pump requirements can be determined which can overcome the existing problems. The data processing method used in this research is a method of combining primary and secondary data. The catchment area is measured according to Pit Elang topography in the field, and the area can be seen using Minescape Software. Groundwater discharge is taken by measuring the increase in discharge per hour using the total station when sunny weather. From the results of the analysis in the field, the catchment area of 119 HA accommodates the incoming water flow of 6.1172,62 m3/day. It has a minimum open drain dimension B = 0.62 m; b = 0.16 m; Y = 0.58 m. The recommended sump volume is increased from the current sump volume 75.541.29 m3 to accommodate the flow of water entering the front in a day, while the pumps used are 2 centrifugal pumps, namely: KSB DND-200-5HX and Multiflo RF 48.
