Abstract

In this study, an external lightning protection system was evaluated in the building of the Faculty of Engineering Sriwjaya University Indralaya, That are the Engineering Coal Study building, Graha Pertamina Faculty of Engineering, Teaching Lecture Engineering Faculty, Graha Patra Kemika Chemical Engineering and Chemical Engineering Department with Electrogeometry method. From the result of calculation has found that the large lightning peak current at Sriwijaya University Indralaya was 48,50 kA and lightning distance was 124,66 m. The results of the Electrogeometry method in the Engineering Coal Study building has been added 2 new Air Terminations with height of 7 m and 5 m, protection angle is 50,72° and 52,20° and radius protection is 78,92 m and 76,41 m. Graha Pertamina Engineering Faculty only require 1 Air Termination with a height of 6 m, a protection angle is 60,27° and a radius protection is 62,31 m. The Teaching Lecture Engineering Faculty requires 3 Air Terminations with a height of 4 m, protection angels is 63,67° and radius protection is 55,29 m. The Graha Patra Kemika Chemical Engineering only require 1 Air Termination with a height of 3 m, a protection angel is 61° and a radius protection is 60,45 m. The Chemical Engineering Department building, it requires 3 Air Terminations with a height of 4 m, a protection angle is 54.76° and a radius protection is 71.93 m.
