Abstract
Periodontal tissue is a functional system of tissue that surrounds the teeth and attaches to the jaw bone, so it can support the teeth not apart from its socket. Periodontal health problems are often associated with various systemic diseases, one of which is rheumatoid arthritis disease. Rheumathoid Arthritis is a systemic autoimmune disease that can attack peripheral joints as well as the muscles, tendons, ligaments, and blood vessels that surround it. The aim of this study was to determine the periodontal status in rheumatoid arthritis patients in RSMH Palembang. This research is a descriptive survey with cross sectional design. The samples used in the study were 30 patients with rheumatoid arthritis. In rheumatoid arthritis patients examined plaque index, papillary bleeding index (PBI), and clinical attachment loss (CAL) to see the periodontal status of each patient. The results showed that the periodontal status of rheumatoid arthritis patients was higher in women with the highest percentage of plaque index in the moderate category of 43.3%, PBI and CAL in the medium category of 30% and 40%. The periodontal status of rheumatoid arthritis patients was greater at the age of 56 - 65 years with the highest percentage of plaque index in the moderate category of 23.3%, the PBI was in the medium category of 16.6%, and the CAL was in the worst category of 26.6%. It can be concluded that the state of periodontal status in rheumatoid arthritis patients in RSMH Palembang in medium category.
