Abstract

This research is entitled “Social Economic Life of Sand Miner Community in Kayuagung District Ogan Komering Ilir Regency in 2013-2019”. The problem discussed are how was the sand mining process in Kayuagung Districts in 2013-2019, how was the social economics life of sand miner community in Kayuagung Districts, and how was the impact of sand mining on the environment. The aims of this research is to explain the process of sand mining Kayuagung Districts, the socio-economic life of the sand miner community in Kayuagung Districts, and the impact of sand mining on the environment. This research uses the historical method, which is a set of measured rules and guidelines for collecting historical sources precisely, evaluating them critically, and pouring the result into writing. Social aspects observed in this research are the government institutions, the educational institutions, and the community institutions. Meanwhile, the economic aspects observed is the result of sand mining. The result of data analysis shows that The establishment of sand mining in this region have relation with economic opportunities for livehoods. Social economic condition depend on interaction pattern and income level on sand mining. Sand mining in Kayuagung district indirectly have negative impact with surrounding environment especially the river.
