Abstract

Generators are utilized as devices to generate electrical energy. To provide low-speed generators, need permanent magnets with radial flux in the rotor. This research proposes to investigate the effect of the number of poles applied in the rotor on the emerging magnetic flux value. There are several changes in the number of poles applied, particularly: 8 poles, 10 poles and 12 poles. Besides considering the number of poles in the rotor, this research still investigates the effect of the distance between magnets on the rotor on the following flux density with a magnetic distance of 1 mm, 3 mm, 6 mm, 9 mm. The process to get magnetic flux values is carried out in several steps. The first stage is designing the entire generator model to be proved. The next stage is to simulate the design of an existing generator employing the Finite Element Magnetics Method software. The last stage is to determine the magnetic flux value in each generator design. From the proceeds it is seen that the number of poles and the distance of the permanent magnet have an affect on the ending magnetic flux value.
