Abstract
A study about nanoparticle preparation of papaya leaves’ (Carica papaya L.) ethanolic extract with lactic acid isolates from Kumpai Tembaga as antidiarrheahas been done. Preparation of papaya leaves’ ethanolic extract and lactic acid isolate into nanoparticles was done by ionic gelation method. This study aimed to determine the percent value of encapsulation efficiency of the optimum formula varied (CaOH)2 used in the three formulas where formula 1 was using (CaOH)2 of 12.5 gram; formula 2 (CaOH)2 of 17,5 gram; formula 3 (CaOH)2 of 22.5 gram. The test was performed on 24 male white rats of Wistar strain which divided into 6 treatment groups. Group I as a normal control were didn’t diarrhea, group II as negative control was given NaCMCof 1%, group III as positive control was given pure quercetin of 10 mg/kgBB, group IV as test group I was given papaya leaves’ ethanolic extract of 100 mg/kgBB, group V as test group II was given the nanoparticles of preparation papaya leaves’ (Carica papaya L.) ethanolic extract with lactic acid isolates 1 mL/kgBB, group VI as test group III was given lactic acid isolates 1 mL/kgBB. The results showed formula 1 as the optimum formula that has the highest %EE. The average%EE values of F1; F2; F3 respectively were 80,82%; 80,41%; 80,31%. This nanoparticles preparation cansignificantly (p <0.05) increase the weight of mice, have a time range of diaarhhea, frequency of diarrhea, and fecal diameter was smaller than negative control group which indicated that nanoparticle preparations was the most effective as antidiarrhea.
