Abstract

This study aims to (1) know and analyze the characteristics of accidents in the city of Padang Panjang (2) Knowing and analyzing accident-prone areas (Black spots) in the city of Padang Panjang and evaluating them (3) Knowing and analyzing the factors that most often cause accidents in the city of Padang Panjang (4) Develop and analyze strategies for handling accident problems in accident-prone areas (Blackspot) in the city of Padang Panjang. The data in this study consists of two parts, namely primary data and secondary data. Primary data in the form of geometric roads, environmental conditions, road equipment. Secondary data comes from a summary of traffic accident data of Padang Panjang Police in the range of 2016 to 2018. Data analysis using the AEK method (most dangerous road segment) and Cussum method (most vulnerable segment). The result of data processing found that the characteristics of accidents in the city of Padang Panjang which includes fatalities are minor injuries with the time of the incident at 12.00 WIB - 18.00 WIB. Based on age, the perpetrator of the accident is 16-29 years old, the victim of the accident is 16-30 years old. Students become the most professions in the accident both as perpetrators and as victims. The most common type of collision is a front-side collision in east Padang Panjang. Jalan Sutan Syahrir is the location of the highest accident-prone area in Padang Panjang city with a cussum value of 14.18. The causes of accidents are road conditions with inadequate markings, negligent driver factors, and excessive speed.
