Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of NPK fertilizer and vermicompost on soil pH, soil P, and growth of broccoli (Brassica oleraceavar. italica) on floating culture system. This research was conducted on a floating raft, Department of Soil Science, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sriwijaya, from March to July 2020. This study used a randomized factorial block design comprising 2 factors. The first factor was NPK fertilizer in 2 levels, namely P1= 12 grams crop-1 and P2 = 24 grams crop-1. The second factor was vermicompost in 4 levels, namely V0= no vermicompost, V1 =450 grams crop-1, V2 = 900 grams crop-1, and V3= 1350 grams crop-1. The results of this research showed that the combination of NPK fertilizer and vermicompost was significantly affect the soil P. The vermicompost treatment was very sigificantly affect the soil pH, soil P, plant growth of broccoli which are height, number of leaves, and stem diameter. The best combination of NPK fertilizer and vermicompost was obtained at V1P1 (450 grams crop-1 of vermicompost + 12 grams crop-1 of NPK fertilizer). The best vermicompost treatment was obtained at V1 (450 grams crop-1).
