Abstract
This research discusses the analysis of the superior potential of the agricultural sector in the province of South Sumatra in 2015-2019, conducted in November 2020. This research aims to: (1) Analyze the agricultural sector in determining the leading sectors in South Sumatra Province, (2) Analyze sub which sectors are valuable or superior in the agricultural sector in South Sumatra Province, (3) Analyzing the competitiveness of the agricultural sector in South Sumatra Province, (4) Analyzing the contribution of the agricultural sector to the economic growth of South Sumatera Province. The data used is secondary data taken from the website of BPS Indonesia and BPS for South Sumatra Province, the data used is data on the value of GRDP. The results showed that the agricultural sector of South Sumatra is a leading sector with an average LQ value of 1.50 and 3 agricultural sub-sectors with basic values, namely the forestry sub-sector (LQ = 2.09), and the plantation crops sub-sector (LQ = 1 , 31) and the agricultural and hunting services sub-sector (LQ = 1.30) which were analyzed using LQ analysis. The results obtained by using shift share analysis, namely the competitiveness (PPWij) of the agricultural sector is negative, namely -3,636.28 billion or -7.53 in percent and the position of the agricultural sector is in the 3rd quadrant where the agricultural sector is included in the slow growth of the sector.
