Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana pengaruh struktur modal terhadap rentabilitas pada perusahaan-perusahaan sub sektor asuransi dan sub sektor sekuritas yang listing di Bursa Efek Indonesia pada periode 2004-2008. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rentabilitas pada sub sektor asuransi dan sub sektor sekuritas mengalami fluktuasi selama periode 2004-2008 yang disebabkan oleh perubahan kebijakan struktur modal yang terdiri dari modal asing dan modal sendiri. Secara simultan, diketahui bahwa struktur modal berpengaruh signifikan terhadap tingkat rentabilitas baik pada sub sektor asuransi maupun pada sub sektor sekuritas. Sedangkan secara parsial, diketahui bahwa hanya DER yang tidak berpengaruh terhadap ROE, yaitu pada sub sektor asuransi. Untuk meningkatkan tingkat rentabilitas penulis menyarankan agar perusahaan berusaha untuk mengoptimalkan struktur permodalan, menurunkan operating expenses yang relatif besar dan meningkatkan penjualan, sehingga laba yang diperoleh akan meningkat
