Abstract

Background: Tuberculosis is a chronic infection disease that caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. In 2010, WHO recommends GeneXpert MTB/RIF test to diagnose lung TB. This study seeks to determine the association between sociodemoghrapic characteristics, result of laboratory blood test and chest radiograph with the result of sputum GeneXpert MTB/RIF. Method: This research using descriptive-analytic method with secondary data of patients that had GeneXpert MTB/RIF sputum test in RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang period January-June 2018 as sample of research. Results: From 1.522 patients that had GeneXpert MTB/RIF sputum test, there are 404 patients (26,5%) resulted MTB positive and 67 patients (4,4%) with rifampicin resistence. There is association between sociodemograpic characteristics such as gender and age (p=0,000), laboratory blood test hemoglobin (p=0,020) and albumin (p=0,002) with result of sputum GeneXpert MTB/RIF test. There is no association between result of glucose blood test (p=1,000) and chest radiograph (p=0,321) with result of sputum GeneXpert MTB/RIF test. Conclusion: There is association between sociodemographic characteristics, laboratory blood test hemoglobin and albumin with result of sputum GeneXpert MTB/RIF test. There is no association between result of glucose blood test and chest radiograph with result of sputum GeneXpert MTB/RIF test.
