Abstract

The staple food of most Indonesians was rice. Farm Machinery and Equipment Service Business has a role in services aimed to increase the used of agricultural machinery in creasing rice production and business profits for farmer groups. The development of Farm Machinery and Equipment Service Venture (UPJA) was influenced by institutional management to improved the performance of the organization. The purpose of the research was to determine and study the management of UPJA to achieved food security in Ogan Komering Ilir regency. This research was conducted from September 2020 to March 2021 in Ogan Komering Ilir Regency. The research used descriptive and survey methods and the data were presented in tabulation form. The observation parameters were the availability of the number of equipments, the rental price of agricultural machinery, operational performance, system development problems, and the UPJA system development strategy. The results of this studied indicated that UPJA in Ogan Komerin Ilir Regency was at a beginner, developing, and professional levels. The UPJA operational area in the studied area applied an IP 200. The income of rice farmers in the studied area was greater than the production cost. The results of this studied showed that the agricultural machinery available in the research area were 4-wheel tractors, 2-wheel tractors, combine harvester, rice transplanter, excavator, and water pump. The rental price for Farm Machinery and Equipment was in the range from IDR 700,000 to IDR 2,000,000. The service business of a combine harvester and 4-wheel tractor in the studied area was not feasible because it produced an R/C value smaller than 1. UPJA operational system in the observation area was quite good, various strategies were continuously being carried out to overcome the existing problems in UPJA development.
