Abstract

This research aimed to measure and to compare the performance of hand tractors using two floating wheels and four floating wheels. This research was conducted at Makarti Jaya village. Sub-district of Makarti Jaya, district of Banyuasin. This research was started in December 2017 until finished July 2018. Method used in this research was Factorial Randomized Block Design (FRBD) with two treatment factors. They were including floating wheel (A) which are 2 wheels and 4 floating wheels and work speed (B) which are speed of 3 km/hour and 4 km/hour. The parameters observed include work efficiency and puddle index. The results showed that the treatment of the floating wheel significantly affect the index of puddling and the treatment of work speed significantly affect the work efficiency. Based on the results obtained, the best treatment in this study was A2B2 treatment (4 wheels and speed 4 km/hour) with the result effective field capacity of 0.195 ha/jam, working efficiency of 34.79 %, the index of 84.72 % puddling and fuel needs of 1.517 mL/m2 .
