Abstract

This research aims to (1) knowing the needs of consumption and production of purebred chicken eggs in South Sumatera nowadays (2) knowing the factors that affect the needs of eggs consumption as a demand function (3) predicting the needs of purebred chicken eggs consumption in 2028 in South Sumatera (4) suggesting the business opportunity of chicken eggs in order to meet the lack of eggs needs in South Sumatera. The research was conducted in South Sumatera Province. The selection of research location was purposive sampling. data collection used in this research was secondary data. The methods of processing data in this research were multiple linear regression and forecasting. The results of research showed that the biggest production of purebred chicken eggs in South Sumatera in 2018 was coming from Banyuasin regency which the total production was 83.002,54 tons with a percentage of 85,16 percent and the least production was coming from Musi Rawas regency which only 30,47 tons with a percentage of 0,09 percent. The highest consumption needs of purebred chicken eggs in 2018 in South Sumatera was in Muara Enim regency which 5.197,70 tons with a percentage of 16,79 percent and the lowest consumption needs of purebred chicken eggs was in North Musi Rawas regency with only a percentage of 0,004 percent. The production of purebred chicken eggs, price of chicken eggs, price of rice, price of chicken meat, and amount of total population was affected significantly to the consumption needs of purebred chicken eggs, while the income per capita was not affected significantly to the consumption needs of purebred chicken eggs. The prediction for the consumption needs of purebred chicken eggs in South Sumatera has been decreased since 2019 until 2028, they are; with total of 37.230,7 tons per year in 2019, with total of 35.578,3 tons per year in 2020, with total of 33.925,8 tons per year in 2021, with total of 32.273,3 tons per year in 2022, with total of 30.620,9 tons per year in 2023, with total of 28.968,4 tons per year in 2024, with total of 27.315,9 tons per year in 2025, with total of 25.663,5 tons per year in 2026, with total of 24.011,0 tons per year in 2027, with total of 22.358,5 tons per year in 2028. The business opportunity that can be createdof this issue is theculinary field, because in this field, unconsciously, it can increase the public consumption needs of purebred chicken eggs indirectly. Moreover, the business opportunity in this culinary field can overcome the reduction for the public consumption needs of purebred chicken eggs in the next 10 years later.
