Abstract

Cans waste has a character which is difficult to decomposed on the ground. So that it will be give a bad impact on nature. Therefore, to reduce the cans waste, it is necessary to recycle the cans. The initial stage in recycling cans is to classify the types of cans based on certain criteria. In this research, the grouping of cans based on Red Green Blue (RGB) image. The data used in this study were 250 cans consisting of 2 speeds. First, RGB image data that obtained is using a webcam with angle of 60°, additional LED lights, and place on 'conveyer belt' on speed 0,181 m/s. The second image data, cans RGB that obtained is using a webcam with angle of 60°, additional LED lights, and place on 'conveyer belt' on speed 0.056 m/s. This study aims to determine the discriminant function and the level of accuracy from the grouping results. The results showed that the highest accuracy rate of 71% was obtained by the first data. This shows that the quadratic discriminant analysis function is formed well enough in grouping types of the cans.
