Abstract

Layered double hydroxides compounds Ni/Fe and Zn/Fe was synthesized by the co-precipitation methods and characterized by FT-IR spectrophotometer and XRD analysis. FT-IR spectrum show the vibrations of Fe-O, Zn-O, and Ni-O groups appeared at wavenumbers 840cm-1, 455cm-1 and 416cm-1 for both of layered double hydroxides. The characterization of layered double hydroxide Zn/Fe and Ni/Fe using XRD analysis show that peak diffractions at 2θ value at 10º and 60º layered double hydroxide has basal spacing 7.74Å and 1.53Å for Ni/Fe and 5.737Å and 1.499Å for Zn/Fe. The adsorption of congo red dye on layered double hydroxides Ni/Fe and Zn/Fe at the various contact time, concentration and temperature. The adsorption process of congo red dye on layered double hydroxides Ni/Fe and Zn/Fe used the pseudo-second-order equation in which the effect of contact time on the adsorption of congo red on layered double hydroxides Ni/Fe (0.0058g/mg min) is bigger than Zn/Fe (0.0041g/mg min). Rate on freundlich equation showed physical adsorption with negative free energy gibbs(ΔG) which showed that the adsorption process occurs spontaneously. The adsorption capacity Ni/Fe 1.5714-9.1968mg.g-1 was bigger than Zn/Fe 1.1667-8.6633mg.g-1.
