Abstract

IPR is the result of human thought that is born because of the ability of a work, whether a product or a process that has economic value. The growing conception of wealth on human intellectual works ultimately raises the need to protect or maintain this property. "TRIBUNNEWS.COM, JAKARTA - Cover song It has become a common thing for many music lovers in the world. Disappointment was conveyed because Hanin had changed the lyrics of the song titled Akad owned by Payung Teduh. In his Instagram account @pusakata, the man who is familiarly called Is expressed his disappointment and hoped that the commercial action of Akad's song could be stopped . The problem that is drawn in this research is how the legality of song cover acts published on YouTube media and how is the legal protection for songwriters whose work is published through song cover acts on YouTube media. The type of research used in the writing of this thesis is normative juridical legal research, using a statute approach and using primary, secondary and tertiary material sources. The result of this research is that the legality of a song cover act can be said to be valid if there is a license agreement and legal protection for those who do song cover on Youtube by using a license agreement that makes the act considered legal in the eyes of the law.
