Abstract
In this day and age the development of technology and communication is getting wider and makes it easier for people to get information. Like the mass media, The mass media is a means of controlling public power to obtain broader information.In this research, Researchers will discuss about the Representation of ODGJ Stigmatization in Mass Media (Semiotic Analysis of the Kidnapped Wife's Version of PKS Ad) This study aims to determine how the representation of ODGJ's stigmatization in the mass media of the PKS advertisement version of the kidnapped wife. The theory used in this research is The theory of Stigma from Erving Goffman which has 2 main concepts of thinking about stigma, namely Self and Identity. The method used in this research is a qualitative method with John Fiske's semiotic analysis which has three assumptions, namely through three levels of analysis. At the Reality level using costume codes, expressions, gestures,and the environment. At the representation level, camera engineering code,dialogue, and editing are used. Meanwhile, at the ideological level, othering or interpreting codes are used. The results showed that the stigmatization of ODGJ in this advertisement was direct and indirect. The direct stigma is in the form of the words "sarap" and "crazy person" while the indirect stigma is in the form of several scenes featuring ODGJ in PKS advertisements about a kidnapped wife inthe mass media.
