Abstract

This study was carried out in order to find out the development of the clove cigarette industrial market structure in Indonesia, as well as to find out if there is any correlation with the variable performance and clusters of the cigarette industry itself. The data used in this study are secondary data in the form of annual time series released by The Center of National Statistics (Badan Pusat Statistik) and Directorate General of Customs Affairs (Ditjen Bea Cukai) from the year 1999-2010. Based on the data above, this quantitative study was carried out and the data were verified by running some methods: CR4, MES, PCM, X-eff, Growth, special index, and Ordinary Least Square (OLS). The results shows that there is a change in the development of the structure of the market in which the change affected the performance and clusters. The change in the market structure decreasing from strict oligopoly becoming moderate one positively increased the benefits of the industry and the clustering also influenced the increase in the absorbing of manpower especially in the areas of the clove cigarette industries in Indonesia.
